Keep screen on

Android automatically turns off the screen after a period of inactivity to save battery. In industrial environments this is often undesirable – for example when a device sits in a holder and workers glance at it repeatedly, or when TheFlex is used for display purposes.

With Keep screen on, TheFlex prevents the screen from turning off as long as the app is open.

Settings

The setting is inactive by default and can be activated under Settings → User interface → Keep screen on.

Battery life

With this setting active, the screen stays on permanently while TheFlex is running. This increases battery consumption noticeably. For devices that run on battery all day, it is worth checking whether this noticeably shortens the shift runtime.

For devices that are always in a charging cradle, this is not a concern.

Note

This setting only applies within TheFlex. As soon as another app is opened or the home screen is shown, the device reverts to its normal screen timeout settings.
