Start pages

This is the most important setting in TheFlex. Since there is no address bar for typing URLs, every website or app the user needs must be configured as a start page. In practice this is usually one specific application – for example the picking app or the SAP Fiori launchpad.

There are two ways to organise start pages in TheFlex:

  • Classic start pages – a simple flat list, ideal for a small number of URLs
  • Menu start pages – a folder-based hierarchy, ideal when many URLs need to be organised clearly

Both modes are configured under Settings → Start pages.

Classic start pages

Adding a start page

Tap Add start page in the settings. Fill in the following fields:

  • Name – A descriptive label shown to the user (e.g. "Production system" or "Picking app").
  • URL – The website or Fiori app to open. Instead of typing the URL by hand, tap the QR code button to scan it directly.
  • Username / Password – Optional. For SAP Fiori and ITS-Mobile pages these fields can be pre-filled so the user does not have to log in manually every time.
Recommendation

Open the desired URL in Chrome on a laptop, click Share page → Create QR code in the address bar, then scan it with TheFlex. This avoids typing long URLs by hand.

Attention

Storing the username is common practice. Storing the password should only be done if the device is exclusively assigned to one person. The password is saved on the device and can be read if it falls into the wrong hands.

Start page configuration

Switching between start pages

When TheFlex starts, the first start page in the list is loaded automatically. If more than one start page is configured, the user can switch by tapping the three-dot menu in the TheFlex toolbar – all configured start pages appear there.

Note

You can require the admin password before a start page switch is allowed. See Password protection for settings.

Recommendation

For key users, add the test, quality assurance, and production URLs as separate start pages. This makes it easy to compare systems and switch quickly during testing.

Menu start pages replace the flat list with a folder-based navigation dialog. This is useful when many URLs need to be organised into groups – for example by department, system, or location.
