Download of TheFlex
Download for Android
For Android, the primary download source should be the Play Store. The latest version is available there and should always be used for security reasons.
However, as the Play Store is not always available or cannot be integrated into the MDM, it is also possible to download an APK. In this case, you will receive a download link from us.
Download for iOS
For iOS, TheFlex is only available in the App Store.
TheFlex is primarily developed for Android, as over 95% of our customers in the production and logistics sector use it. Therefore, all the features described on this website mainly refer to the Android version.
A significantly limited version is available for iOS, which can be expanded with additional features if needed.

Minimum requirements for TheFlex
For security and compatibility reasons, one of the latest TheFlex versions should always be installed. In contrast to Windows CE, there are very often updates in the Android and iOS operating systems, sometimes with Breaking Changes which change interfaces or authorizations. For this reason, TheFlex is also sold on a subscription basis to ensure that changes to Android and iOS, as well as adjustments to connected hardware, are permanently and promptly integrated into TheFlex.
In addition, it is important to keep the Webview on Android and Safari on iOS up to date. The reason for this is that the integrated browser is kept up to date and gets security updates via these apps. The advantage of this is that all critical security updates are created and distributed worldwide and as quickly as possible by Apple and Google. In the event of critical security gaps in the browser, it is not TheFlex that needs to be updated, but Safari or the web view.
Depending on the version, there are different options for accessing the web view for Android. This is because Google has changed its mind several times on how it wants to distribute the webview.
Android version | Web view update |
---|---|
5.1.1 to 6.01 (API levels 22 to 23) | Via the Android System Webview |
7.0 to 9 (API levels 24 to 28) | Via Google Chrome |
from 10 (API level 29) | Via the Android System Webview |
If you have any questions about this, we will be happy to support you. Ideally, you can tell us your Android version for this interview.
